I was unfamiliar with The United Planet Organization that you mentioned but, it sounds very interesting. How did you get involved with this organization?
Brent beat me to my question! I went to NOLA for the first time this year and it was awesome. Anyway, what were your favorite sights in Belgium? Did you do anything particularly memorable there?
what was it like working in a daycare in Ecudaor? are the kids different from the daycare kids in Gwinnett? Do ou think it was more or less of a challenge?
Do you have a hard time finding pants that fit you since you since you are so tall? I have a hard time finding stores that sell pants in 'short' length because I am 5'3.
Brittany, I have always wanted to go to Greece! I was wondering how did you learn about the United Planet and would you suggest the organization to others? ~Rose
I clearly have a long list to get started on...so...I'll start with the first: Dr. Alby- I love to cook vegetarian chili and any new types of chicken. Chicken is my favorite meat so I like to try new sauces and sides so it doesn't get boring. And I love going to the Buckhead Diner in Atlanta. By far my favorite. They have great fried chicken (an upscale version if that makes it sound any more appealing) and I probably eat at El Tequila the most in Milledgeville...more for the atmosphere. ha
Amber & Rose: You guys had similar questions so I thought I'd answer both at the same time. I found United Planet through a friend of a friend. The internet is a great source to network if you haven't already figured that out. I mentioned what I was looking for and my friend knew someone who had done what I did but in Africa, so I messaged her and went for it. The Program was wonderful. It was so much more than just volunteering. I had spanish school and trips on the weekends. They offer programs all around the world and it is not that expensive and well managed. I looooooved it. I would definitely suggest it to others. You just cant be afraid to do things alone because they don't hold your hand through it all. It is very independent and allows you to learn on your own, but has help and support there if you need them.
Katherine- My favorite outdoor activity is probably running or hiking. I love to just get any type of exercise outside really. I like taking walks too. I know this all sounds pretty general, but really as long as I'm outside it doesn't really matter. We have hiked up Mt. Yonah in North Georgia and I love going to Stone Mountain for the day. We always went growing up and there is always so much to do. It is especially fun to people watch because there are so many tourists there. ha
Lorien & Jonathan- You guys both asked about New Orleans so this is for you guys :) Favorite trip of all time. haha. My favorite touristy thing we did was take an airboat tour through the swamp and see alligators. We had this great tour guide who was the stereotypical New Orleans native and it was just wonderful. The food there was awesome and there are just so many things to choose from. We took the trolley car through the entire city, which was amazing and then we found a zoo that I would highly recommend checking out just for fun. It was beautiful. There was also a statue garden we visited and of course Bourbon St and haunted houses in the French Quarter. I could go on all day about NOLA. GOOOOOOO!!!
Marina- I love that you asked me that. I actually haven't pants shopped in years because when I find a pair then I keep them forever! I started shopping at Buckle when I get jeans because they do them by waist and length, which a lot of nice stores do now, but Buckle is great for jeans. I really wish I was able to find more jeans though because that would probably be a lot cheaper. Good jeans are expensive. I also really like Express jeans. I don't know if they are also good for shorter people though! But I totally understand the frustrations!
Erin- My favorite place in Europe so far was France. I don't know if it was the country or the people I went with or even a combination, but it was a wonderful trip. The french countryside was just incredible. I loved the small towns and even though Paris is kind of a tourist trap, it still has all the hype its built up to be. It's all so much fun. The coast was so nice and there are castles everywhere to see. We went to Versailles and that was gorgeous.
Christina- Oh I have several favorite memories of Belgium. The first occurred in Brugge, which is supposed to be the most romantic city in the world I think. I had my first Belgium waffle with chocolate sauce. Oh. My. Gosh. It was out of this world and perfect because it was freezing outside. There is also a famous statue in Brussels that is of a little boy who is peeing. Famous people from all around the world go to this statue and bring it outfits from their home country for some reason. It was very strange and very funny.
Danielle- The daycare was great. Probably a lot different considering they let us come in and work with the kids and don't know us. I worked with the babies mostly, so that is not too different. Of course, the lady who worked with me spoke spanish and that was difficult sometimes if I didn't understand, but I learned a lot. The kids were super cute and it was a lot smaller than any daycares in Gwinnett size wise, but probably just as many kids. I loved it. It was such a great experience for me and would be good for anyone to see how lucky we Gwinnettian's are.
I can't wait to teach abroad! It is so nice to find that other people have that passion too! I like when you say you want to do something you enjoy even though it may not bring the most income. If you couldn't teach would there be something else you think would give you the same enjoyment?
Hey Abby, I am pretty open minded about working. I haven't really had to work or hold a job for long amounts of time, so I am open to any experiences. I think I would just enjoy being employed after I graduate and after time, I would hopefully find something that I enjoy doing just as much as the joy I hope teaching will provide me with.
Into food, huh? Me too! What's your favorite thing to cook? Your favorite Milledgeville restaurant? Your favorite Atlanta restaurant?

I read how you wanted to go to New Orleans, do you have a specific tourist site or series of sites you want to visit while there?
