I am so envious of your time in Spain. That is a place a would particularly like to visit. Say, you are holding a saxophone in your photo. Do you play?
Erin, I've never heard of Art Stop before though it sounds like a wonderful organization. What did you learn through this organization that you will use while teaching?
Dr. Alby, The saxophone is actually part of a statue that was onboard our cruise ship. My roommates and I cruised to the Bahamas in March. I wish I could say that I play; I'm envious of those who are musically talented. I have a short history of piano lessons, but I'm far from composing any masterpieces.
Katie, Art Stop has taught me an unbelievable amount of patience. Having no infants in my family and very little babysitting experience, it was really my first time around young children. The Art Stop kids have taught me on more than one occasion that every situation holds the potential for a beautiful memory. Cleaning up, for instance, can be even more fun than making the mess.
Brent, teaching abroad is actually one of my dreams. I would love more than anything to teach English in a Spanish speaking country. Whether in Spain, South, or Central America I would readily take advantage of any opportunity to teach and improve my Spanish.
I am so envious of your travelling experiences. I can't wait to start doing more travelling soon! I know we've talked about overseas teaching before. Are you still thinking about it? If so, would you go back to Spain or start a new endeavor?
i am so glad that someone here likes to speak spanish. i can't understand it for the life of me. so since you are a minor in the language though, have you ever thought about teaching it in a high school?
Like everyone else, I am SO jealous of your time in Spain. Because I love to cook and eat, what kind of food did you eat there? Were the paella (sp?) and sangria as delicious as I imagine?
Hey Erin, I would absolutely love to visit Spain someday, so I also have a question regarding your time there. What is it in particular that you found so alluring about the people of Spain and what do you think is the biggest difference between Spanish and American people(besides their beautiful accents:P )?
So you helped out with Art Stop...well do you have a personal interest in art because you are an artist or have hidden talents and can paint masterpieces or you enjoy art and the beauty of it like me :) I have no artistic talents in that area... ha
You mentioned a love of Spain and Spanish culture, but were there other things in other cities that particularly struck you as unique expressions of specific human artistic endeavors(like classical architecture in Rome or art in Venice etc...)?
